Zakiya (Cox) is an African-American female singer her full name is Zakiya Shalai Cox, who was born in Brooklyn, NY In 1992 she was the winner of Hal Jackson's Talented Teens An International Talent contest, That would allow Young minority women a Chance to display their talents before the world, an opportunity denied them at the time.Zakiya Cox went on to win the judges approval at the world famous Apollo Theatre in New York City during her Amateur Night performance.
