Barbara Levy Daniels

Born in Buffalo NY USA, Barbara was heard singing by Ray Charles when she was 12 years old.He’d been asked by the President of ABC Paramount Records to listen in as she auditioned for a label deal.Charles said, “Sign her right away”, and they did.Over the next few years, Barbara Lyons (as she called herself then) traveled back and forth from her family home in Buffalo to New York City where she performed and recorded singles written by Carole King and arranged by Dick Wess (“Mack the Knife”) among other Brill Building luminaries.
